Is Ontario finally serious about game development?
Tue, 19/08/2008 - 22:28 — Chris CharabarukI received an interesting e-mail this afternoon from the OMDC, the crown corporation which manages tax incentives and other programs for the entertainment industry in Ontario. They released a report today, titled Ontario 2012: Stimulating Growth in Ontario's Game Industry. From the report's cover letter:
Microsoft causes open source geeks worldwide to freak out!
Fri, 25/07/2008 - 19:41 — Chris CharabarukVia The Register comes news that Microsoft has joined the ASF and contributing to PHP under the LGPL. In the words of Anonymous, "lol wut?"
Here's another reason to drop Rogers as a service provider, if you haven't already
Tue, 22/07/2008 - 00:25 — Chris CharabarukAlthough I'm hearing about it a bit late, I just read on Michael Geist's blog that Rogers is intercepting bad DNS hits so to earn more ad revenue and pretty much break your internet.
Thanks, Bell and Telus, as if your services weren't already overpriced...
Wed, 09/07/2008 - 17:31 — Chris CharabarukAccording to Sault Ste. Marie News, Bell and Telus have a new plan in mind for text messaging. Are you a Bell Mobility or Telus Mobility client? Well, expect to start paying for incoming text messages, even if they're completely unsolicited. The charges gouging begins on August 8, and both providers are looking at a 15 cent charge — the same customers face for sending a message.
The Rough Road For Independent Console Developers
Tue, 29/04/2008 - 11:00 — Chris CharabarukI picked up off the wire this morning an interesting opinion piece by former Eidos president Keith Boesky. It's partially a rant, but one that I believe is right-on – risk mitigation by publishers is one of the biggest reasons (if not the biggest reason) for developer failure.

Parity, but not in the marketplace?
Mon, 01/10/2007 - 20:04 — Chris CharabarukEven Tycho at Penny Arcade is mentioning it – despite the Canadian dollar being (just barely) worth more than the American, we're still getting gouged with our consumer purchases.
